Hilarious! These furballs are totally dazed out on catnip. Although these cats are clearly tripping out, not all cats enjoy catnip as much (I have one who could not careless for it). The chemical nepetalactone in catnip is what triggers cats to like it so much. Catnip is thought to have a hallucinogenic effect on cats but is neither addictive nor harmful and its effect depends on whether a cat eats it or smells it. If a cat smells it, then is acts more like a hallucinogenic drug, if it is eaten then the catnip has a sedative effect. So next time your cat cannot stop running around the house in the middle of the night, you know what to administer. 🙂
